An announcement that needed to be shouted from the rooftop:

Beautiful moment between a lucky kindergartner and Dan Santat. Grateful to teachers like Ms. Diaz, who knew this personal introduction had to happen and for a man like Dan who knew how to make this kid feel like the most important person in the world. There's so much more to the story, but all he had to hear was that she really loves to draw. He spent at least 5 minutes sharing his personal sketch book with just her! She saw his next book character, future ideas and past. I consider myself blessed to have witnessed this magic.
